Leigh’s terrible past is coming back to haunt her. She’s forced to represent a man who knows what happened 20 years ago and he’s out for revenge. 

This started out fast as the first chapter was brutal. The ending was also action packed, but a lot of the middle was very slow and I kind of skimmed to get through it faster. There are also parts that are very hard to read.  

This is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was glad it wasn’t as courtroom centered as I was afraid it would be. However, there were a lot more details on some things than I expected and it was hard to read. I don’t even know how to put all my thoughts into words because I’m kind of still reeling. 

Side note, this book has very long chapters.

Dnf at 45%. So many covid references. I read to relax, reading about covid is honestly the last thing i need.
Also felt like the story was just going so so slow and just dragging on.

Another fantastic thriller by Karin Slaughter. She never disappoints in creating gripping stories with lots of unexpected twists and hard hitting themes. This book is the type that you never want to put down. I like the writing style how it swaps between Leigh and Callie (the two main characters) in the present and flashbacks.
