dark
do you ever read a book that is just deeply not your thing, but you have to lead a book club about it for work, so you drag yourself through it kinda just waiting for a legit excuse to dislike it, and then you come across a predatory bisexual character and think "ok, this works as a focus for my frustrations"?
yeah

CALLIE NOOO
i had a gut feeling that she wouldn’t make it but
honestly the ending broke my heart in all the right and horrible twisted ways.
leigh and callie are just so outstandingly written and so real, it honestly smacks you in the face.
this was a tragic, devastating and depraved story that i just could not stop reading.
i’m on my way to buy all of her books because this was EVERYTHING

This thriller was much darker than most thrillers I read. It tackled some really heavy issues, to the point where it would feel icky for me to say I *enjoyed* this book. So I won’t say that. But I will say that it was captivating, and I cared so much about the characters. I desperately wanted them to make the right choices and have a happy ending. The story kept me hooked and even though my version of the book was 600+ pages, I still read it in a day. So it was a very engaging book, but definitely is too dark for me. I do have to say, the writing style pulled me out of the story at times (especially in the beginning of the book), because there are so many short statement sentences. Like, noticeably more than in most books. I did eventually get over that, but it wasn’t my favorite
