<spoilers>   4/5 stars

as a woman, i am disappointed in myself that i really enjoyed this book. my feminism is just so far out of the window at this point.
not going to lie, i was rooting for jake through most of it. noah wasn't it for me and he was my least favorite. i did like how 'mysterious' kaleb was so i was excited she finally spent a lot of time with him.
towards the end though, i didn't like the time jumps. i was excited to find out how noah and jake reacted to kaleb speaking again, and their reaction to tiernan and kaleb getting into a relationship. that would've made the book better; in my opinion.
nonetheless, i think it was very good and fun overall. the writing was giving very much wattpad, but that's okay. that's what made it extremely addicting:)

This one tends to be one of the more controversial books written by Penelope Douglas, and thatโ€™s saying a lot, because Iโ€™m not sure they have written any other kind! ๐Ÿ˜‚

After a family tragedy leaves her orphaned just before her 18th birthday, Tiernan has gone to stay with her step-uncle and male step-cousins who happen to live in a secluded cabin that gets snowed in for months every winter. I think you can figure out where this is goingโ€ฆ

This one wasnโ€™t my absolute favorite of PDโ€™s book (those ๐˜‹๐˜ฆ๐˜ท๐˜ช๐˜ญโ€™๐˜ด ๐˜•๐˜ช๐˜จ๐˜ฉ๐˜ต boys have really stuck with me) but I still found it an enjoyable and engrossing read.

I enjoyed seeing these characters grow over the long winter months, as well as the ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ that went along with that growth! ๐Ÿ˜‰

My main issue with this book was what felt to me to be a sudden shift to the endgame love interest. I felt I personally got kind of got lost on Tiernanโ€™s journey to that choice, and it felt a bit out of left field for me. I would have enjoyed having a bit more development on that front, and maybe a bit less development with the other main โ€œrelationshipโ€โ€ฆto make it feel a little more fluid.

Overall I found it a decent and addicting read. I think Iโ€™m finding I really enjoy PDโ€™s writing and storytelling, and they certainly always push those boundaries.

What this book is giving:
โœ… Taboo Romance
โœ… Age Gap
โœ… Forced proximity
โœ… Step-uncle + cousins
โœ… Winter + Secluded cabin setting

Rating:
โญ๏ธ โญ๏ธ โญ๏ธ โญ๏ธ / 5
๐ŸŒถ๏ธ ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ ๐ŸŒถ๏ธ / 5

Look out for (possible spoilers):
โš ๏ธ Mentions of suicide and attempted suicide
โš ๏ธ Mentions of child abuse/neglect
โš ๏ธ FMC underage at start of book
โš ๏ธ Non-con
โš ๏ธ This is a taboo romance and is NOT for everyone

This book was WOW & not like a good wow & also not really cause of the taboo~ The whole first 45% of the book I could have done without, I felt like it was worthless to the story. For all the hype this book gets for its spice, I'm not sure why it gets that hype. Spice is like 2.5/5 BUT the last 20% of this book was soooooooooooooooooooo good. Like this book had such potential and it literally just rolled itself right off Chapel Peak iykyk

This book is dark. It's  taboo. It's spicy. It was like watching a car crash, I wanted so badly to look away but I couldn't. I enjoyed the endgame but I do think a lot of the dark/taboo parts of the book could have been cut out. The complex trauma is written really well and overall the plot is okay. If you are a fan of dark (and I mean really dark) romances and can look past the content warnings the romance might be worth it for you. This is not a book for you if you are looking for fluff.

I don't even know where to start with this book. I understand that taboo is a niche some people are interested in, but there were scenes in this book that were just blatant assault and that's soooo not okay. If the author were not a good writer, I would have never made it through this book and that's the only redeeming quality. If you can forget the f*cked up situation the characters are in for a few minutes the spice is good, but then you remember it's pretty much an *ncest love story and it just makes you feel disgusting. Not a single one of these guys,
even Noah, the one you're supposed to think is the sweet one,
understands or cares about consent. The relationship with
Kaleb is bizarre and abusive and
makes no sense to me. They are all taking advantage of a young girl that has gone through a major life event and has had a terrible childhood. All she needed was a home and people to care about her instead of every single one of them counting down the hours until they can legally f*ck her. They pass her around and then have the audacity to be upset with her about it?? She's 18 and has never been shown any attention before, what did they expect to happen? She also needs to realized that these are not the only 3 men that exist, she can definitely date outside of the family. This is just gross and manipulative and every one of them needs therapy.
