I received a copy of this novella from a friend for a buddy read, and I couldn't be more thankful for that, because it was a delight to read.

The premise of the series, as well as the world-building are great, and the style of writing is very engaging. I was hooked almost immediately, and the only disappointing thing about it was that it ended too soon. However, that just means I have to read the next installments of the series, which I hope are just as good.

I'm not usually a fan of stories written from the first person point of view, but in this case I really enjoyed reading about Murderbot's thoughts, opinions, and its interest in watching soap operas.

I have to admit, I was confused by all the names of the human characters for at least half of the story, and I kept mixing them up constantly, but once I got used to them everything was a lot easier to follow. As far as human characters are concerned, Gurathin is my favourite so far, followed closely by Ratthi.

I love Murderbot to pieces and I can't wait to read more about it and about its adventures.

I really liked this!  Cool concept and I think Murderbot makes a very interesting narrator.  Will definitely try the second one soon.

This was a fantastic, approachable introduction to sci-fi. As a majority fantasy reader, SF can be intimidating. But Murderbot injected dry humor into a story with many political players, making this a fun but intriguing read. I’ll definitely be picking up book #2!

This was disappointing. I went into this with high expectations and while I didn’t hate it, I was expecting a lot more. I liked Murderbot as a character but I didn’t really connect with it. I did not care for any of the side characters and felt like they were incredibly flat. Which is why it made no sense to me when Murderbot starts to care about them. This story lacks a lot of emotional depth. Perhaps it comes down to the quick pace and short book. The writing itself was a little hard to follow.

I hope later installments are better because this series gets a lot of praise.
