So, I was over YA for a while. Then I came across this book.

I have kind of been in a slump, so I just picked a random book off my shelf and it so happened to be this one and I am so happy that it was.

As soon as I read the blurb I was just, hooked. I couldn't wait to get in and when I did I barely put it down. I was not ready for how easy this was to read for me, I kept wanting to know more and more until I hit the end. It was a huge surprise for me since I haven't read YA in a hot minute.

I wasn't sure on Pippa at first, but the more I got into the book the more I started to adore her. I really enjoy a mystery and the mixed media in this book made it feel like I was there with Pippa trying to figure it out. I don't want to leave out Ravi because he was honestly a fantastic character and I'm really happy that Pip had him to lean on when she needed it.

It's been a long time since a book has had me on edge like this one did. The writing really hit well with me and I really felt engaged and immersed. I felt what Pip felt, I felt her fear, I felt her sadness, I felt everything.

Admittedly at times it can read a bit juvenile but overall, I kind of expect that in a YA book. There is some trigger warnings I would be mindful about though because it does cover some heavy topics.

I recommend going into this blind and just having the full experience for yourself. I originally rated this as a 4.5 but I think a 5 suits it better as I couldn't stop thinking about it after I'd finished. I have read the rest of the series but this book still stays at the top for me.

Nail biting mystery, a true page turner. Just wild.
