Great followup to Matched. I found this more interesting as it was told in both Kai and Cassia's perspectives. I liked the adventures across the desert and the ruins they found. It ends a little bit on a cliffhanger, looking forward to the next one.

I really hate Ally Condie for writing the way she does. Yes it took me ages just to pick the book up again and finish it. I wanted to finish it and get it over an done with but OMG she does it again. She finishes Crossed leaving me wanting more. I want to know what happens next even if it took me 2/3 to get to the point where I actually started enjoying the book.

major flop alert. matched should have been a standalone book if this was the best a sequel could be.

super boring and slow, so it was hard to get into; the audiobook wasn't very engaging which probably didn't help, and i honestly wish we had never gotten ky’s pov bc he got super annoying. the first quarter (picking right up where the last book left off) was probably the high. there were lots of new secondary characters that were either uninteresting or irksome, so it was hard to feel invested; also condie was definitely introducing a love square? ick. and to top it all off, the stakes and world-building didn’t feel any better developed. i think i mostly finished it out of spite.

The first book had promise, but this one was derivative, repetitive and pretty dull. There doesn't seem to be a story arc and it feels like a short story has been stretched for word count. The climax also feels rushed.

Plot: 0
To say it frankly, this book was completely unnecessary in the series. It could have been a wonderful duology.
Characters: 1/2
I still love Cassia and Ky. But Indie I didn't really like that much, and I think she was kind of pointless.
Description: 1
Ally Condie always paints a vivid picture in my mind.
Style: 1
Condie's style is poetic and beautiful, I absolutely love it.
Symbolism: 1/2
This novel didn't have as much symbolism as the first one in my mind, but her poetic style still brings some wonderful metaphors.
TOTAL: 3
It seems a little weird giving this ridiculous book three stars, but subtracting the plot it isn't such a bad book. It doesn't turn the series off for me at all.

3rd reread. Ky is so intelligent. I'm jealous. This is my least favorite out of the series, but I love this series so much.
