3/5 stars, a solid beach read for my vacation. Great writing style, and I love culturally rich books. I however didn’t realize this wasn’t so much a stand alone book in a series as it was the second book in a series- I still enjoyed it, but I think reading the first book would have given me a lot more context. I picked this up second hand at a book sale so I didn’t realize it at the time. Definitely will look for more by this author, and maybe the first book while I’m at it haha.

I enjoyed this one more than the first in the series, although the first one was funnier. The author does warn readers in the beginning that this one covers darker topics which I appreciated. I loved the mental health rep more than anything else. This was a perfect read for May because of AAPI Heritage and Mental Health Awareness Month.
