Reviews with content warning for Sexism - The Dark Days Club

The entire fantasy element felt so contrived and boring. I did not care about the bad guys or how the magic worked, mostly because it didn’t make sense. This book felt like it was trying too hard to seem smart and it just missed the mark completely. The “relationships” between the main character’s two male interests were half baked and felt forced. I didn’t find her interest in either believable. Carlston wanted to be a bad boy so bad but he just wasn’t? I could not have cared less about any of the characters. The plot and character development felt stifled by the regency setting. The climax was boring, the “twists” were unsurprising, the magic/fantasy was annoying rather than intriguing, and when I got to the end I felt like nothing even happened. This book needed at least another 100 pages to be interesting but I could not have made it through 100 more pages of the writing. Relieved to be done with it.
