I couldn't care less about any of the characters in the story. However, some of the premise was compelling enough to drag me through until the end of this first book.

It starts off strong, with many interesting references to chinese history. It's ending is rather disappointing, though.
I read the audiobook, and the narrator used the same, dry voice for every single character of the book which, combined with the chinese names, often caused confusion as to whom as saying what.

Pretty good read. Has some intriguing ideas. It taught me a lot about Chinese history and culture (something I need to research and learn more about).
There were quite a few surprises in this book that I really did not expect at all! The concepts in the last 30% of the book are so interesting but crazy that I want to go and research into them right now. I really don't know how Liu Cixin came up with the ideas... maybe I need to read more into his influences.
I liked the science aspects of this book. My only complaint is the writing seems a little off at times, but I think it is due to it being a translated work. It doesn't detract from the story.
I will continue this series for sure as Liu Cixin poses some thoughtful questions and I would like to see how things progress.

i think if i knew more about physics this would have been really exciting, but i still found it interesting.
