An interesting story, but mired in its translation. Not poor necessarily, but certainly not effective. I’ll save my time and read the sequels’ synopses.

Primeira vez a ler um livro depois de assistir a adaptação 🤣 And I really loved the Adaptation... but the book was more insightful... I finally understood why TF they were messing around with the scientists 😅
I have mixed feelings... I was comparing the characters, the plots and the details they left out.
I think my anger towards YE WENJI was restored here... if not magnified...😐🤣
And... I didn’t connect with Wang... unfortunately...

I was really intrigued by the video game aspect and the aliens but it took so long to get to the aliens! This book wasn’t what I was expecting, it was slower in the beginning but it got interesting once we got to the video game part and the three body problem. I listened to it as an audiobook which may have been why at times I had a hard time keeping track of where we were in time since it jumped around a little. The Trisolarans were interesting and I loved when we finally got to the point of learning more about their civilization and I wish we had gotten more about them but I guess I’ll have to read the next book! This was also a book that really made me consider how small we are compared to the rest of the universe, and the Trisolaran society made me think about how important joy and art are in order to make life meaningful on this little blue dot.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the copy of this audiobook!

i cant picture images in my head so i think that made it hard to get into the physics and then tech stuff and then get through the way the narrative was constructed without losing steam once it turned away from the characters actions like every few chapters. everyone was saying it was transformative for them which is cool like i can see how that could be true for other people just not me.
it was cool to have the repeated several paragraphs between earth and the trisolarians receiving the first message from each other though.
i did also enjoy the image of the living cloud of locusts and the dignity of life on earth one does have to take solace in this. shout out to the humble wisdom of an annoying police officer too
and shoutout to me for getting an A in astro 102 in college i just wanted to have the occasion to say that here too.
