It's really hard to give this one a rating because I was getting solid 3 star throughout like 95% of it. It wasn't bad but it also wasn't mind-blowing. However, that last 5% was SO good. If the rest of the book had that kind of pace, it would have been a lot better. I also feel like the ending was a little too open ended. I would have liked to see
all the characters story lines concluded a little more. The little cliffhanger that Cate and Jesse are siblings was good but I felt like Adeem's issues with his sister needed a bit more time.
Overall, a really solid read about wanting to be heard.

Earth receives a transmission from another planet, Alma, saying that they will destroy their colony planet Earth in a week. Now, everyone on Earth is scrambling. Some people are looting stores and others are trying to spend time with people who are important to them.

3 teens: Cate, Jesse, and Adeem...Each living in 3 different cities/towns. They are each trying to deal with the situation in their own way. Cate wants to find the dad she never met, even while her mom is checked into a facility. Jesse feels like his life is all messed up and maybe it doesn't matter that the world is ending. Meanwhile, Adeem wants to reconnect with his estranged sister. Eventually their paths cross.

This is what I would call sci-fi lite or Diet SciFi. There is the mention of aliens BUT the story is much more focused on the humans and how they react to the impending end of the world.
