I just could not get into the story. I read up to chapter 5 and just nothing. I might come back to it at a later time just can’t keep reading it. It’s very slow placed on an adventure.

"every life is a story ... and our story will belong to someone else someday. they will tell it, write it down, maybe even name stars after us."

good writing and an interesting premise. however extremely slow pacing. this book left me feeling frustrated and melancholy.

When you think you know what’s happening, you still haven’t learned what’s happening. This is an odd book with an interesting but dark plot. It’s a scary dystopian future that requires a little effort to unravel

A Wilderness of Stars is a haunting YA dystopian tale set in a world much like our own. The story follows Vega, the last remaining Astronomer who is destined to save her people from a mysterious illness. In order to do this, she must find the Architect but the journey is paved with danger. This novel is equal parts enchanting and heartbreaking with lush and immersive writing. Ernshaw slowly unravels the mysteries in the story and keeps the reader on edge until the shocking yet hopeful conclusion. This is a beautifully written YA sci-fi novel with a dash of romance that explores love, survival, grief and fate.

For fans of The Last Cuentista, The Electric Kingdom and The Hunger Games.

I was honestly so shocked by this book. I didn't think I'd end up liking it as much as I did. I was so surprised. It's such a beautiful and interesting story.

Thank you so much to Simon & Schuster and Netgalley for providing an advanced copy of this. All thoughts and opinions are still my own.

1⭐️

my first one star rating this year :/

never did i ever think that i was going to be this disappointed by this book. my hopes and enthusiasm for it were really high and in the end i dnf’d it at 35% and skimmed through the rest just to see if i missed something good (i did not).

what irritated me the most was the slow pace and not enough information about what was going on. the author did more telling than showing in my opinion and i couldn’t take it anymore.

the plot was boring (i almost fell asleep honestly), the characters were one dimensional and confusing.

the book had potential if we consider the summary but the execution was horrible and i wouldn’t recommend it to anyone since it’s just a waste of time.

2.5 stars. Ahh - my end of the year hopefuls are not quite going my way. I love Shea Ernshaw's beautiful writing style, but I couldn't really connect with this story! Personally, I found the action happened to soon so there was a chase going for the whole book (and sadly it made the whole middle a little repetitive), and I couldn't really connect with the characters. While I love the story of the Astronomer and the Architect, I thought it could have been better sold as a sci-fi to maybe reach a better audience. I did read it quickly to see what happened, but wasn't my favourite by this author.
