It actually had an action packed and interesting end that will convince me to move on to book 3 at some point. But the beginning 3/4th is drawn out exposition worthy of the common criticism that it drags and is dull. It jumps through time with characters who age beyond a hundred years, and loses some of the novelty of the first book.
