This is a slow burning book. There was never a “big reveal” or anything of that nature. You had to read 4 different POVs which was a little excessive. I kept wanting answers so that was the only reason I kept reading. Definitely took me longer than books usually do.

a relatively unconventional, character-centric thriller. the killer is revealed pretty early on but the plot was engaging enough to keep me going. interesting characters, each with their own motivation to pursue the case. the climax was a bit anticlimactic, and the ending is a bit scattered though.

I really love Sarah Lotz, and this was her first novel that didn't include paranormal aspects. It was okay, but not my favourite. Still worth reading.

I really enjoyed this one and am surprised it hasn’t had more readers. My only complaints are that I feel like the ending was weaker than the rest of the book and that it should have been 100 pages shorter.

A huge thank you to HBG Canada for not only sending me an early copy but sending me a beautiful finished copy!

This was a very interesting book, and I say that in the best way possible! Going into Missing Person I knew very little about the plot, in this book we follow 22-year-old Shaun. Since his mother passed away a few years back he’s been hit with so many struggles, one of which was losing his family home and drifting further away from his living relatives. Now Shaun is having to live above the bookstore he works at and spends his days just leaving to the future. One day after work a stranger approaches Shaun as his visiting his mothers grave, telling him that the Uncle he has known as dead all his life is actually alive... And not only is he alive but his family has been hiding a secret for years. From that point on it propels Shaun on a hunt to find out where his uncle is and what happened all those years ago.

There was so much I loved about this book, from character development to the way it was told I found myself constantly thinking of this book. It's not one that you can marathon in one sitting, it's the type of story you want slowly take in and to slowly uncover the mystery piece by piece.

This book is really unique as it uses a lot of different media to tell the story, from emails to website articles the author made it feel as if you were apart of the site uncovering these clues. To help find his Uncle, Shaun discovers this website Missing Linc were a group of people use the site to find the identities of missing people. I loved the use of the website and how everyone interacted through it, you could understand why these people were wanting to use the site and what made it so appealing to them. It was also very interesting to see how the website started to consume all the member's lives, leaving little else for them to prioritise.

This book is told in four different perspectives and with all those characters comes a whole line of secondary characters. Going into this book I was very nervous all the voices and personalities would get mixed up but that didn't happen. Everyone had such a unique voice that would stick out, even when you were reading email entres I knew exactly who was who and I really appreciated that from the author. I would occasionally get confused with secondary characters but Lotz did a great job at developing all the characters and it made me sad to finish this book and leave them behind.

I don't want to go in more details on my thoughts as I went into this book not knowing much and found that added to my enjoyment. I will say my rating did drop from a 5 to a 4.5 for two reasons. One was at times I felt as if the story was dragging and was finding myself not wanting to read certain chapters as certain characters we're getting a bit boring at times. Another reason and the one that pushed the rating down more was the ending. I did find the ending interesting but it was a bit anti-climatic. I can't go into details because of spoilers! but I had to reread the ending because I was like ”oh..thats it?” and for a 500-page book, I wanted more of oomph to ending. Now saying that I am satisfied with this book but for all the build up I did find a bit of let down.

Needly to say I did thoroughly enjoy this book and would highly recommend it! I haven't read anything else from this author and look forward to booking up more books by them if you love a great mystery with complex characters that will constantly leave you thinking then look no further!

A huge thank you again to HBG Canada for the early copy!

Not a bad mystery. I didn’t love the format.
