This story is full of surprises. It started as something like Northanger Abbey and then turned into something else and then once more. Stephen King would be happy to write something like this. People claiming it being funny - what's going on in your life, no, please, don't tell.
I think I will never have the courage to re-read it.

I read this book for my 20th Century British Literature class. I really enjoyed it as I thought Waugh created a great novel about Britain around the 1930s. The characters and storyline were well developed! The only thing I didn't really like was what happened towards the end, as I felt it was out of place for the rest of the novel. Overall, it was a great read for a class!

A quick, fun read, but not sure it lives up to the "classic" status many reviews grant it.
