Not enough good things can be said about Rebekah Isaacs's work on these books – not just her ability to recreate the actors from the show but also when it comes to costume design, the design of the various demons, and the fight sequences. Christos Gage is her match when it comes to the script, which gets the tone of the show just right while pushing it in new directions. The portrayal of concentration camps in this volume is quite hard-hitting and continues Buffy's fine tradition of using fantasy metaphor to reflect real-world issues.

The start to this new series feels very current with it's allusions to Trump's America. I like this new direction!

3 .5 stars. Not as good as the previous "season," because it feels like it is trying to teach us a lesson (not a bad lesson, but a lesson nonetheless). Still enjoyed it though.

Started a little slow, but by the halfway point I was hooked! This was a great conclusion to the comic series, although I’m also devastated there won’t be more!! I’m very much not a fan of the art style though- I found it really hard to connect to the characters because of it, but the dialogue was fantastic.

I've stood by the Dark Horse Buffy seasons up until this point. I watched as my beloved characters faced new and, often, improved big bads. Everything felt reasonably changed and altered from the TV series. Old scoobies and baddies returned, and new friends were introduced. The Angel & Faith cross-overs and side-issues with Willow and Giles were all so well done.

But Season 12 doesn't pay off in the end. It feels rushed, fan-serviced, and too chaotic. I hate admitting this, but this extended Buffy team probably should have ended the comic continuation with season 10.

If anything, the end of Season 12 leaves me extremely excited to put these canonical seasons behind, once and for all, and start a new journey with the BOOM! Buffy series which drops later this month.

Well that was really good. I totally was expecting that kind of thing to happen at some point once the supernatural beings were out to the public... And I love how they are writing it.

Not bad and an overall good ending to the buffyverse comics. I missed some characters, but was okay with what they did for an ending.

The first issue of this trade came out November 23rd, and if it weren't so immediately after certain current events, I would think this entire plot was incredibly heavy-handed. It continues Buffy's tradition of using magic and demons as allegory for real-world oppression, and it's fascinating and intense and sometimes frustrating. It's a whole lotta white people with complicated access to power, and then some angry non-humans not really getting any characterization.

But at least it's addressing the real capabilities of modern-day politics and prejudice. I'm curious about where this is going.

- WOW I hated this art style, weird big heads and just awkward lineart the whole way through, only saving grace was the big panels for fight scenes, which is too bad because those were boring narratively.
- The big bad? Not compelling, not worthy of the finale. The whole concept was just underdeveloped to the point of annoyance.
- Does anyone actually care about Fray? I was surprised by how much I liked the conclusion to that plotline but in general I could not be bothered.
- I guess the point of the last season is they learned from OP douchechills vampire to try to change fate?
- Buffy and Faith are gonna be cops now which is the saddest ending I could imagine
- 1 entire star for the OT3 potential in the last few pages, but I'm v grumpy about breaking up Spuffy for most of the season.
- What a waste of a last hurrah :(

I've been (im)patiently awaiting these issues to go on sale on ComiXology and here we are!

I've been following what's happening as they've been released from reading the descriptions, so the overall storyline wasn't a surprise but that doesn't mean it wasn't amazing. What happens in this volume is timely as hell. The first one was released in late November so it was well before the first Muslim ban was attempted, but this is a direct commentary on the ridiculousness happening in the US. The initial attack that provoked the prejudiced backlash felt a little rushed, but other than that this felt like a flawless storyline. It feels like Buffy and it's bringing attention to something very relevant to the real world. Yes! More please!

My only issue with it is that there is a different artist for a few issues. Their style is a little abstracted and grungy but I suppose it reflects what's happening well.
