A fast-paced thriller that kept me glued to the pages until the very end. Loved the premise, and the kids' personalities were particularly well-crafted. I did not guess the ending and that makes the book particularly satisfying. A great page-turner.

DNF’d at 30%. The premise sounded promising but the invasion was way too drawn out.

Cam is a successful chef who runs a handful of restaurants. He and his wife, Jade, are happily married with two children. When Jade and the kids come home from school one day, there is a masked man in their garage waiting for them. He holds them hostage and demands Jade to call her husband to bring him a large and very specific amount of money. While Cam scrambles to come up with the money, he is forced to come head to head with the secrets he’s been keeping from his wife. Meanwhile, Jade has to think quick on her feet to protect her children. While with the man, she overhears several phone calls that make her wonder just how he knows her husband. This was a great thriller!! I was on the edge of my seat the entire time from the very first few pages and finished the book quickly. Belle’s writing style draws you in quickly and although this was the first of her books I read, it definitely won’t be the last!

Kimberly Belle has done it again! She is quickly turning me into an “I’ll read anything she writes” fangirl. I insist on my reads being compelling - if they don’t keep me turning the pages and invested in the story, I am going to lose interest fast. I am happy to share that Kimberly Belle knows how to write a page turner!

My Darling Husband is centered around the Lasky family, whose patriarch is Cam, a celebrity chef known for his line of premium steak restaurants in the Atlanta area. Cam is husband to wife Jade, and father to their two children, Beatrix and Baxter. The Lasky family is rolling in dough, but their good luck and fortune is about to run out.

While Cam is dealing with a massive fire at his most profitable restaurant, Jade and the kids are taken hostage by a masked intruder in their Bucktown mansion. The intruder wants a sizable sum of money delivered to him within mere hours or else he will shoot Jade, Beatrix, and Baxter dead.

Cam finds his life diving into a tailspin as he attempts to pull together the impossible sum for the ransom. Meanwhile, Jade is battling for the life of not only herself, but also Beatrix and Baxter, as she tries to outsmart a man who obviously would love nothing more than to see them all dead.

My Darling Husband is a taut thriller from start to finish. This chaotic, tightly wound novel moves at a breakneck speed as the clock ticks down to the time the ransom is due. Survival novels are a particular favorite of mine, and the domestic element ( being held hostage at home) of this novel certainly gave it a hair-raising edge over the competition. I devoured this book and thoroughly enjoyed the dark and twisty rabbit hole it flung me down. Belle has a way of sneaking in subtle surprises when you least expect them, making My Darling Husband a truly engaging read.

Thank you to Harlequin and Netgalley for the ebook in exchange for an honest review.

This book just sucks you in.
Jade sees the same man while doing errands - she calls Cam to let him know, give a description. Cam is currently dealing with a fire at his most profitable restaurant - so far in debt there is no way he can afford for this location to be down.
Taking it all in stride, Jade picks up the kids and goes home. Only to have a man leap from the shadows, holding her family hostage. Forced apart, Jade calls Cam to let him know they are being held hostage at gun point for the ransom of over $700,000.
This multi-narrator plot is fast paced, keeps you engaged and the suspense is nail biting to the end.
