it was honestly hard for me to get into this. it got kinda sticky and complicated, and i didnt care for the mc much- trying really hard to be gritty. and also i didnt get her motivation? she stopped doing the hunt until she was provoked and then it was okay? i dont get it.
anyway, yeah, just not for me is all.

loved this book! it’s the perfect mix of fantasy and reality that immediately captured my attention. it is definitely a YA read but without being cringey. I would recommend this to anyone who loves greek mythology!
A very enjoyable read. I love the dynamism it offered and enjoyed the visual images it tried to portray. I do have a couple things I disliked though, such as:
-> Athena's portrayal could have been improved over the course of the book. It improved in the near end
-> treatment of the gender themes (the flimsiest aspect of this book which added weakness to the portrayal of villains and certain characters)
-> just a personal, biased one but I would have loved a bit more sprinkling of the romance
Overall, while imperfect, it was fun and that's what matters.

Title: Lore
Author: Alexandra Bracken
Pages: 551
Genre: Greek mythology, young adult, retellings
I expected to really enjoy Lore because I love Greek mythology… I was sadly disappointed. When I first read what Lore was about, I was so excited - Greek mythology meets The Hunger Games?! Yes please.
For some reason I just couldn’t find it in myself to care about the characters in this book. Everything felt very predictable and I was bored. I didn’t want to pick it up in the evenings, but I was determined to like it because I thought the plot sounded great!
I think the issue is more my own, I went into this book expecting so much more than it gave and probably had too high expectations. It felt very YA in the writing style and was a lot more graphic and gruesome than I anticipated (although this isn’t a bad thing).
IMO, this book would make a far better film series and would be one of those reads that everyone prefers the film or tv show. I can understand why people love it and really like the lead character Lore, she is strong and determined and pretty badass. I just couldn’t care less about her fate…

I am just in utter awe of what this book did. Every turn of the page was even better than the last and I truly felt myself emerged in this world. I can honestly say this was a 10/10 for me!!
Like it. A lot. But i will never forgive them for what they did to Artemis.
I did like the female rage though

Before reading this I heard it was a greek mythology meets The Hunger Games. What I can say except, that is a pretty good (vague but apt) description of this book. This book follows a young girl named Lore, as she is pulled back into the world she was born into. Every seven years, nine greek gods become mortal and are hunted by Lore’s people, the Hunters. After spending seven years away and in hiding from everything she ever knew, Lore is pulled in by someone she never though she would help. It has many twists and turns that left me wanting to stay up all night reading it. The last ten chapters of this book make it worth the read. I would rate this book 5/5 stars. Overall it was a great read and I would read it again. I recommend you give it a read too.
Creative, fun, and while it could be a bit messy in parts I couldn't put it down.
