You can tell a lot of work and love has gone into creating Caledonia Destiny. I got a good sense of the time and culture of the setting. Although some of the names are hard to pronounce, and every once and awhile there was an awkward sentence or two, I was completely immersed in the world.

Roi and Ewen, as well as many other characters, were well rounded and real. There was a little bit of fated mate going on, though I was glad it wasn’t love at first sight. I felt their connection and was rooting for them the whole way.

There were a few twists that I totally didn’t see. I felt the end resolution happened quite abruptly and sort of off page which left me unsatisfied at the end. However, I loved the book as a whole. I see that this is just book one. I hope the rest of the series follows Roi and Ewen rather than a different couple.

If you love paranormal with your history, this would be a good choice!
