A fun compilation of diverse middle grade/YA short stories! This would be a great one to teach from in a middle school setting.

I definitely am glad this book exists and gave me the chance to read stories from so many diverse and different backgrounds. I realized last year that while I did my fair share of reading female voices, I really needed to work on reading more LGBTQ+ and POC stories- and the We Need Diverse Books movement was the spark that started my conscious change to diversify my reading. Some of the stories in here really wowed me, others I didn't connect with as much (which is fine, I'm sure it will reach the right reader out there). This was a nice way to show all sorts of different authors and really made sure there was a little bit of something for everyone. Highly recommend this to readers of all ages- this isn't just for middle grade readers, adults will enjoy and gain something from these stories too.

Great middle grade wide-ranging short story collection from @weneeddiversebooks ~ my favorites were "The Difficult Path" by Grace Lin and "The Beans and Rice Chronicles of Isaiah Dunn" by Kelly J. Baptist.

I had fun reading the short stories! Some were emotional and some funny. What a ride!

A sweet collection of stories. My favorite was The Difficult Path. Some of the stories felt like chapters in a bigger story and didn't work for me as short stories. Overall I think this is a fun, quick read for a kid wanting to reading a story that reflects themselves.

Oh, I really enjoyed these stories.
My favorites, which I would consider teaching, are:
- "Sol Painting, Inc." by Meg Medina (about a painting job in exchange for private school tuition)
- "Flying Lessons" by Soman Chainani (nerdy kid traveling with rich aunt)
- "Seventy-Six Dollars and Forty-Nine Cents (A Memoir in Verse)" by Kwame Alexander
- "Sometimes a Dream Needs a Push" by Walter Dean Myers (wheelchair basketball)
