This one moves along at a brisk clip, but atmosphere and world building never suffers. I love how Townsend weaves in exploration of themes such as otherness, found family and privilege, in an organic way. There’s attention paid to EVERYTHING - character development, sense of place, the magical elements, big ideas - which leaves the reader feeling so satisfied. And eager for book 3!

I enjoyed this sequel on @librofm , but this was a slow, but steady listen for me, but not because of the story, but because of life changes and everything for myself. It took me a while to get through this so I felt a little disconnected, however, despite feeling disconnected from the story because of not listening to this consistently and just in spurts I still really enjoyed the story and will probably re-listen to the series at some point in the future! The narration of this series has been phenomenal and I have definitely enjoyed getting to know Unit 919 of the Wundrous Society and Morrigan Crow. Fun easy listen that continues to move throughout the entire series book. I look forward to listening the the third book soon!

The only thing that stopped it from being a full five stars is I really disliked one of the decisions Morrigan made in the course of the story. There are several times she makes dubious decisions, but generally the story brings her around to realize her error and set her right pretty quickly. This one is never really pointed out as an error, though she does (much later) make a decision that I feel sets right what she did wrong the first time.
