Honestly I feel like this series is way over hyped. I did really enjoy the first book, but this book did not live up. Violet and Xaden’s back and forth relationship situation is annoyingly basic. The whole book feels like it was written for middle schoolers minus the explicit content. Speaking of the explicit content, it’s SO cringey. Overall I enjoyed some of the story lines, but I don’t know that I will continue to read the series.

This book was about 200 pages too long. When I was into it I was into it but otherwise it really dragged on.

Honestly I’d give this a 3-3.5 stars for the writing itself. Ms. Yarros really needs some better and heavier-handed editing. It was easier to let slide in Fourth Wing, but I really hope it gets better as the series progresses.
4 stars for the plot, needs more dragon lore.
5 stars for the experience and emotion and friendships though. I’m emotionally exhausted and have a book hangover.

what. the. actual. fuck.
peccato, perché si vede che RY ha scritto questo libro in 4 mesi. nonostante il plot in se sia interessante, concordo quando leggo delle persone che dicono che molte parti potevano essere tagliate.
molte volte mi è quasi sembrato che Violet volesse troppo essere la vittima e si sfiorasse quasi del “sessismo” nei confronti di Xaden, soltanto perché è lui l’uomo e quindi quello che di conseguenza deve sempre essere in colpa e scusarsi.
comunque sia, non vedo l’ora di leggere il terzo per vedere come RY gestirà il fatto che Xaden è diventato un venin.
