This is a quick, engaging book, and parts of it are quite funny. However, Bryson comes off as a bit of an arrogant tool in many of his interactions with other people - I feel the story could have been more impactful if he didnt spend an appreciable portion of it deriding other hikers and townspeople for everything under the sun. I generally appreciated the bits of history scattered throughout the text, and I'm interested in reading more about the trail from that angle.
