Not a book to read if a person is in a depressed mood (given the attempted suicide early on in the book and what begins the central plot of the story). However, ultimately, it is about finding the meaning in YOUR life and what makes it special. Very philosophical, but that’s part of the charm and what made it memorable to me.

This story was beautiful! I think it was a good read as someone who has been suicidal in the past and has often felt an intense loss of will to continue. I think the end felt a bit rushed into what a semi-perfect version of things would be like. But I understand the point is to be hopeful. Overall, I loved this read! The way it tackles regrets and intentional living is wonderful.

I like the overall message of the book. I just struggled with some of the writing… You know how in Marvel movies they over-explain quantum physics to try to make the universe seem real/plausible, but the way they explain science is wrong? That’s how this author wrote about the midnight library. 🥴

Also, I didn’t love that Nora’s “ideal life” involved marrying rich and having a child just because of my own personal struggles to have a family. I was suicidal going through infertility, so it was a good thing I read this *after* having a child of my own…

This book was a really lovely meditation on what makes a life worth living. Even though it could get a little preach-y at times, Nora was a relatable protagonist who wasn’t nearly as much of a failure as she told herself she was. Spoiler alert: It’s amazing to watch her fight her way through depression and start to understand her own worth. Fans of Everything, Everywhere All at Once might like this novel.
