This book is interesting, romantic, hot, funny, and touching. Penny is such a fun and relatable character. She's a member of the Royal Guard, but only because it's the family business. She's a bit klutzy and prefers to paint and be a free spirit. Sebastian is the crowned prince she's supposed to protect. He too, doesn't like to conform and was seen as a bit of a wild child. He likes art and wants to pursue it, but his passion is photography.

I liked the setting of NYC, though it was a bit odd that finding him took so long when he went to college and had a life there. The progression of Penny (Len) and Sebastian's relationship was plausible and felt natural. To stop from spoiling things I won't name names, but there is a character I don't like. I think they know something and have ulterior motives.

Also I was not warned, but I'll warn you, there is a cliffhanger at the end. So if you don't want to wait to see what happens, I'd buy the second book.

Penny is following in her families footsteps by being a Royal Guard, however, it is not her passion. She is clumsy and often causes a calamity. Feeling more at ease with a paintbrush in her hand. Ordered to a meeting with the King she is sure that she is about to be fired, however, he wants to send her on a very special and important mission – convincing the Prince to return home.

Prince Sebastian slipped out of the palace six months ago after finding out that he has two siblings that he knew nothing about. Not looking forward to the prospect of becoming King himself, he hopes to find his brother and sister to return them home and pass the reins down to one of them. Living in New York he has tracked down his brother Lucas and just needs to tell him everything and convince him to come back to the Winston Isles with him.

Penny moves in as his next-door neighbour and attempts to befriend the Prince. Through a series of ‘disasters’, they strike up a friendship attempting to fend off their growing attraction. With secrets on both sides who would this work if they knew the full truth?

A cliffhanger ending leading you into the second book in the duet series.

Really good but not finished

I HATE books that are cliffhangers. This one was amazing until it dropped right at the end without the HEA on a cliffhanger. The writing was great the characters were well written and the sex was HAWT but I’m really glad I didn’t pay for it or I’d be about livid. If you’ve got a book that doesn’t stand alone make sure it’s clear - I thought it was two books with connecting characters not two books to finish the story.

Firstly you should totally read Cheeky Prince (Royals Undercover) which gives you the background to Penelope and Prince Sebastian. I just love Calamity Jane, I mean Penelope her character just sucks you in and good lord you just can't help but feel sorry for her and how she doesn't do so well as a Royal Guard but her heart is so in the right place. Prince Sebastion really is a bit of a tortured sole after leaving home due to a relational that changed how he looked at his Farther. This isn't just a love story this is a bout 2 people wanting to be themselves and find it hard to conform to what their families want just because that's just how it is. There is plenty of sole searching for both as well mutual attraction that gets in the way of what they should be doing. I can not wait to read book 2! oh and I loved how Blake Security make an appearance too!!!

I picked this up on a recommendation from another author that I met at her book signing (Thanks Sierra Simone!) And man am I glad I did! Penny is a killer FMC. So relatable and funny. I just loved her! Sebastian is broody in the sexiest way. This was a fun quick read and I’m chomping at the but for more. That cliffy, yo!!

This book took me back to all the things I loved about the movies in the 90s about a prince and a princess falling in love except this time it’s spicy!! Nana Malone gives us a delicious story about a reluctant prince on the loose, a female royal guard who kicks some serious butt once she figures out she is awesome, and a threat to the throne of a small island nation in the Caribbean. You get a little bit of all the good things wrapped up in a delicious royal story!

Penny comes from a long line of royal guards and follows no so successfully in the footsteps of generations of her family. However, her heart isn’t into it. The prince is missing and he’s avoiding both his father, the King, and the royal guard. But with a possible threat on the prince’s life, he needs his guard more than ever. Penny’s new assignment: befriend the kind and protect him without him knowing. It goes well, but sparks are flying, and soon he becomes more than the assignment.

This story was just what I wanted it to be. Featuring really likable characters and a few you’re not supposed to like, this story was a really easy and fun read. As a bonus I grabbed the audiobook and got to enjoy it all with Shane East and Andi Ardnt in my ears. This story was sweet and oh so steamy. I also loved how both characters grew in the story and realized that maybe the future laid out before them was exactly where they needed to be. The first of a duet, their story finishes in Cheeky King.

Really like this book. It was unexpected. And I really loved the relationship between Penny and Sebastian. Especially since they started off as friends, which seemed to make their bond stronger.
I am curious about what will happen next since it ended on a cliffhanger. And since they didn’t get to tell each other their secrets.

This one takes you on a wild ride of intense twists and turns. I absolutely loved reading this one. Penny (Len) takes a job for the king. She is to find his son the Prince and get him to come back home. But little does she know that that task is not going to be so easy when love becomes a part of the mess that she is in. She is stubborn and wants to prove that she can do this job. She fights all the way to prove that she can do this job. But along the way she starts having feelings for Prince Sebastian that could make things worse in the end. I absolutely loved this story line. I loved that the hero in this story line is hopefully going to be Penny. This is a great beginning to a great story line. But I was a little upset . Ok no i was alot upset when I got to the end because it does leave me hanging wanting so much more from these characters. I have to know what is going to happen with them. Great characters with great chemistry. Absolutely love the additional characters like Ariel. Just a great book.
