omg I loved this book so much?? I didn’t know what to expect and even though the pacing felt a bit rushed at parts, I could not put this book down.

even without knowing the original Korean folk take this story was based off, I fell in love with the world building.

this book was a perfect package of romance (and the idea of destined lovers ahhhh my weakness), action, mystery, and a heartwarming exploration of ancestral connections while taking place in a spirited away-esque universe!!

Such a beautiful world! It was a sweet story, perfectly suited for people of all ages. The way things tie together in the end, made me feel as though I was watching a Studio Ghibli film. I loved the MC. She was the perfect balance of gentle and innocent mixed with strength and confidence. Highly recommend!

Overall very cute and fun! It’s not a deep book, or a hard book to read, but the world building is interesting and fun, the characters are lovable, and the story is like a warm hug.

Honestly, there aren’t many negative trials in this one, it really is a wholesome story. I mean, there is conflict, but it never feels overwhelmingly negative. It was quick and easy to read and rather fun.

I will say, the writing is kind of hard to get into at first, at least for me, because it is all written very literally. Like, first this, then this, next this. Also, the dialogue snd writing is sometimes a bit unrealistic or odd. But it’s a story about gods and dragons. So, I guess it’s fine.

It’s not groundbreaking, but it was good.

Also, I really liked Namgi.

A beautiful retelling of Korean mythology that places a strong female protagonist at the centre.

Mina encapsulates everything you want in a heroine: a strong sense of what's right, and heart. Though the two may clash at times, the way Mina navigates the Spirit World and the dire situations she is thrown into is so admirable and you find yourself rooting for her throughout the book.

There were some great reveals, and even though some I managed to guess, it didn't take away from the enjoyment of the book.

Quite a quick read for anyone looking for a lighter, YA read with descriptions that transport you into Korean folklore.

DNFed at 65%.
I just couldn’t quite get into it. There was not much world building in my opinion. I felt confused with the interactions of the sea gods and the dreams and back and forth with memories confused me. I didn’t feel any connection with the characters either. I feel it had such potential. Just my opinion, because the rest of the reviews are really good, so I think it’s just me.
