I enjoyed the story but didn’t find myself itching to read it all the time, and plodded my way through.

I did enjoy the parallels both through the time jump and the dual POV, and seeing both of their sides of interactions. I found the miscommunication really infuriating and childish - just talk to each other! The secrecy for no reason, when there wasn’t even really a secret because everyone knew but just didn’t talk about it. 

It was interesting to see the different portrayals of grief and family relationships, but I did feel a bit of whiplash with how Alice’s mum and Mariana’s dad just suddenly accepted things. 

Overall an interesting premise, but one that fell a bit flat for me - but certainly enjoyable for others!
