Love this book! Though I love the entire Mercedes Thompson series, some entries are stronger than others. I find this to be one of the best, lots of action, very fast past, but balanced with great character development and growth.

He lifted his lip in a mock snarl and put his nose down on the dashboard with a thump. “You’re smearing the windshield,” I told him. He looked at me and deliberately ran his nose across his side of the glass. I rolled my eyes. “Oh, that was mature. The last time I saw someone do something that grown-up was when my little sister was twelve.”
I had no intention of reading another book until I had finished Fool Moon by Jim Butcher but I thought I had already read Silver Borne and just read the first few chapters to make sure, but I got completely hooked and I couldn't put it down once I realized I had in fact not read this book.
Just because you’re paranoid doesn’t mean you aren’t right.
This book was full of drama, so much was happening but not too much that it became overwhelming. Mercy borrowed a book in the previous book and in Silver Borne she's trying to give it back, but no one knows where the book store owner Phin is and after his cryptic phone call to Zee's son Tad, she isn't even sure he wants the book back. What Mercy does know is that people are looking for this book and will do anything to get their hands on it. On top of all this Mercy is also having trouble with the pack, certain people don't what her there and decide to take matters into their own hands.
“Honey is eye candy,” said Ben apologetically. “You’re… just you.” “Mine,” said Adam, edging between Heart and me. “Mine is what she is.”
I adore Mercy, there has never been a time in any of the books where she annoyed me. She's smart, knows when to stay and fight or cut loose and run. She also doesn't waste time on petty arguments. She's perfect for Adam, she soothes his beast and even though they have their issues they would do anything for each other. It has been ages since I read book 4 so I didn't see the issues with Samuel coming up, needless to say it was a bit of a shock and I was glad to see how it was resolved. The one behind the pack troubles also took me by surprise.
I opened my mouth, but he shut me up with a kiss. “Not here,” he said. “Look next to us.” We were being observed by a boy of about five and a toddler in a frilly pink dress. I raised my nose in the air. “As if I were going to joke about your ball. How juvenile.” He grinned at me. “I thought you’d feel that way.”
The ending was very well done in my opinion, there's still problems but for now Mercy gets a little breathing room. I look forward to seeing how book 6 will go. This is a truly great series.

I have mixed feelings about this one. On the one hand, I liked the progression of Mercy's relationship with Adam and that Samuel finally got an end to his depression arc and a live interest. That was nice. He deserves good things.
However, my ongoing biggest gripe with these books has reared its head.
Now, there are some in the werewolf pack who do not like Mercy. That was clear and is a cool bit of conflict. What I didn't like was that one of the people who were plotting against Mercy was one of the only two named female pack members... and it was the one who had been nice before! Not only that- turns out she'd been secretly homophobic all along -.-
Like....whyyyy?? Why are ALL women either non-characters or bitchy/evil? And again not only that but she was manipulated onto doing the bad thing by a guy and the reason she was pushed to it was because she was in love with Adam...Really? At least Marcilia has the guts to just be a fucking evil mastermind...
Ugh sigh idk it really wouldn't bother me if there were any other female side characters to balance it out.
The story itself is fine. If you liked the previous books you'll like this one.
I did find the ending to be a bit underwhelming. The fairy queen was so built up and in the end, she was just like..
Shot with a normal gun once and died.. cool
So yeah, good story, disappointing ending, and continued lack of any meaningful female side characters
