What makes this murder mystery series stand out is Horowitz's self-insertion as a character. However, Hawthorne, the investigator, is boorish and rather flat.

Nonetheless, quite enjoyed this fast paced mystery set during a literary festival in a remote island. Will keep an eye out for the next one.

This is the 3rd book in a Sherlock-like murder mystery series. Many characters with reason enough to be the one and a few clever clues were sprinkled throughout. I would have liked a bit more humor and snark though. :)
