This one felt a bit more of a casual read than the others in the series. It didn’t start off with the murder until around 100 pages in and didn’t feel as high stakes as the other books. Started catching onto some of the things Hawthorne would point out, so it wasn’t as shocking. Excited to read the next book as it ends with a tiny cliffhanger.
On-par with the rest of the series, thoroughly enjoyable if not as good as “Magpie Murders.” This time Horowitz really did a good job hiding the real answer to the crime in small details throughout the novel. In “The Sentence is Death” it felt as though the main plot was mostly a big red-herring, but this one feels much more earned. It’s always super fun to read the last ~20 pages of his mysteries.

I disliked this so much. It was so hard to get into and so boring. The only reason it gets two stars is because I could not guess the ending.
