I went through the book quickly and really liked the characters, although the book handled heavier topics than I expected which made it a bit of a struggle for me (there’s a lot of discussion about morgues and crematoriums). I loved the relationships with the characters, but don’t like the set up for the next book at the end of this one. Some plot twists were awesome and I was captivated, and some seemed like there was no set up and I was not liking them.

I can't define what I think about Prison Healer. I like it, it's fluid, it's not difficult and the characters are enjoyable. But , the first part is kinda tiresome... I mean, nearly nothing happened. But the second part was great !! Hopefully the twists were not guessable, so I manage to be really surprise to learn about powers, true identity and secrets. So, in all, it was a good read and I'm looking forward to read the second book.

What-! 😃
Like I knew it but I never said it out loud so I still threw the book when I finished because wtf. But like.
Really????
I totally guessed the plot twist about the
poison being the source of illness/Rooke knowing about it
and I for sure knew that Kiva
had magic because…healer-?
but I definitely did not guess the part about Jarren which made me a bit mad because I did not like that reveal. I mean the conflicts still hold up really well, and the plot made sense, I just prefer characters doing more rather than just gleaning more information.
I have no idea if I’ll finish this series. I was definitely entertained enough to read the next to but I’m not jumping up to go buy it.

This book threw me in an emotional roller coaster. Lynette Noni made me fall in love with the characters, and deeply feel their struggles and pains. Despite how narration felt flat and repetitive at times, I couldn't put the book down. I predicted some of the twists, but the big reveal at the end, nope.
I mean, WHAT?!
