I love this author’s dedication to tying in Greek mythology! However, with that element and a serial killer, I’m not sure how this book was so slow. I thought it had a really good start, then really lulled in the middle, and then all the sudden we were at the end. I thought the twist was going to be more exciting honestly, it was just kind of sad and unsatisfying. I also still don’t understand the point of Fred lol? Not his strongest piece.
4! Spooky dark academia that I had the perfect timing for—the rain started 30 minutes into my reading and then I flew through the story! I am…shocked and a little confused but I really really found this so fascinating!

I absolutely love this author and I loved The Silent Patient, but I will say this book took me a very long time to finish. I found myself bored a lot and didn’t find it as interesting. But, this book is connected to The Silent Patient and that’s what made me love the last 100 pages of this book. It makes me want to go back and reread The Silent Patient. But yeah, this book had a good ending and a good twist to it.

I just cant get over how horrendously inaccurate the depictions of the police work are, if you are going to write a crime thriller involving police investigations then please learn how a UK police murder investigation ACTUALLY works. I could literally bullet point list all the things wrong with the police investigation in this book but that would be very spoiler-y.
And it's boring, which is a shame cause anything dark academia set at Cambridge Uni instantly sounds like it should be a hit for me.
This copy will end up in a local charity shop
