Fire recommendation from TQ himself. Very Alice in Wonderland esque but I had a lot of fun. (Especially when Westley did the voices)

This was such a lovely reread for me. I enjoyed it the first time in middle school and now again at age 30. It’s not perfect, but the nostalgia factor hits hard and I do think it’s one of those books you can enjoy at any age.
It’s an easy read that has such vivid descriptions and word play. But to be honest, I came for the wordplay and stayed for the characters.
I will say that I felt that the first half of the novel was stronger than the second half as far as wordplay goes. However, the ending wrapped everything up so nicely and I adore the message of the book and how that was presented with the main character’s transformation from someone bored with life and just going through the motions, to someone who stops and smells the roses and appreciates the little things and all there is to learn about the world.
I can’t believe I even got kind of emotional at the end. I think I just hate goodbyes, but this book made me feel something so special. It brought me back to that sense of whimsy from when I was a kid. I wish I could bottle that feeling up and keep with me, but I’ve got the next best thing: this book, which has endless rereading potential.
