I think I just don’t like this storyline, I had high hopes that I was going to like this more than the show since in my opinion getting to those episodes of season 1 were a chore, because the introduce you to rose and the rest of the season is entirely focused on you caring about her as a character so you care about her finding her brother, and I didn’t care about her so this means that those episodes were pretty boring because they just dragged out their reunion, until the end where they end up at the cereal convention which I loved, unfortunately I don’t think this is a happy medium, since they spend so little setting up rose and her brother that you absolutely do not even have a chance about caring about them, and also the resolution of Jed escaping happened super quickly and was super anticlimactic, and because the corinthian had no set up the convention was not that interesting because it had absolutely zero stakes, which was absolutely not the case on the show, also on the show the storylines connecting felt satisfying and on here it didn’ and I liked that they just killed the child molester, why are we giving him a nice dream here, so overall this volume just felt like separate storylines that developed incredibly quickly, which meant not having any stakes and that when they ended they felt anticlimactic, I did enjoy the closing monologue and the desire part tho.

this a really cool story! it skips around a bit, and i did not follow all of it, but it's enjoyable and interesting. I especially love the Cameo appearance of G.K. Chesterton as himself :-) Excellent touch.

ps. Even better 2nd time around!

Didnt enjoy the whole book as much as the first. But there were definitely elemts i really liked such as the serial killer convention and the diner lady's stories.

Also at the end when Rose is in her dream the partial nudity feels really weird. Cause idk about you but i definitely am not wearing a toga in my dreams especially not one that is falling off my boobs every two seconds

The second book of the sandman series was better than the Prelude in a lot of ways - darker, more compelling in its storyline (to my mind anyway) and it left me wanting more.

Desie sets a trap for her brother Morpheus in the form of Rose Walker. We learn through the book that this is not the first time she has tried something like this. The consequence of falling for these traps isn't explained. The only thing that holds true for both situations is that Morpheus is not the one who overcomes the trap; the humans involved on the other hand, do. Nada has enough wisdom to see that their love affair will lead to ruin. It's not enough to pevent the destuction of her people, but evidently it prevents Desire's intended outsome. Her punishment involves spending the last three thousand years or so in hell.

In the present day, Rose Walker and Morpheus' show down is interrupted by her grandmother, Unity, whose efforts to save her granddaughter unintentionally save Morpheus as well.

In between these stories are those of the escaped dreams and the impact they have, Morpheus' strange friendship with Hob, and Rose's connction to some of the doomed characters from Prelude.
