Dr. Bloodmoney

Philip K. Dick

3.5 AVERAGE

medium-paced

Meh, it was ok. Didn't do much for me but wasn't terrible.

Perhaps the most interesting thing Dick does is what a vast majority of post apocalyptic fiction doesnt: that the social infrastructure doesnt instantly vanish, it crumbles. There are still "military people" and state officials, still gestures at the former system desperately trying to hang on by a thread that feels way truer to life and how societies in decline actually occur.

I wouldn’t say it’s a waste of time, but it also didn’t feel like it was worth the effort by the end. Severely limited by Dick’s own prejudices and thoughts, but it worked well for a novel about people being narrow and small.
