I have to periodically re-read the Tiffany Aching books. They make me so happy.

The Tiffany Aching series is fast becoming my favourite Discworld sub-series. Tiffany's coming-of-age story is beautifully, delicately told, and Granny Weatherwax has been a favourite character of mine since I re-read Wyrd Sisters last year. And the Feegles always make me laugh. A wonderful balance of silliness and emotional depth. I love it so much.

Im obsessed with this Tiffany Aching series. Its just so lovable and full of heart and humour. I think it’s the perfect kids/ya book. While the last one tackled grief (esp of a young child of a grandparent) very well i think, this one continues that journey but also looks at how to understand yourself and maintain this personhood as a pre-teen girl being introduced to the complex social group of other pre-teen girls, friendship, kindness, and just all-round how to grow up to be  a good person and what that means. It’s not about status or looks or things you can buy, but who you are and what you do - your actions, and asking for nothing in return. Doing good and being nice just to do good and be nice. Sounds easy, Tiffany shows us how hard it actually is, how it is effort and work, but effort and work worth while. The book gets you relaxed and laughing so the lessons it teaches creep up on you with you noticing. This quote in particular really stuck me, taking me completely off guard:

“Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colours. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving.”

Literally stopped me in my tracks. Just simple, excellent book.
