I’ve had this one sitting on my tbr for quite some time so I was quite pleased to get it ticked off the list as it actually turned out to not be a very long audiobook. Which is always a winner in my eyes.
One of the things I’ve noticed about the small amount of Russian literature that I have read, is that it is very existential. There’s always conversations about life and all of its components which can be quite depressing but at the same time can be really interesting to read.
But this particular short story focuses on the first love of the main character who at the age of 16 falls in love with an older woman and who then embarks on a whirlwind romance with her that affected him even to his adult years.
It was really interesting to read this from a man’s point of view and I actually found myself really enjoying it.
