This book captured my attention from the first page. My children were left to look like hobo's as I abandoned them to finishing this glorious story (don't worry my husband is capable of parenting them also) I've never really been a fan of Academy type stories, but this one held nothing back and I found myself frantically turning the pages for hours. The only thing it was missing was a sexy teacher to give out some sexy spankings, but the mystery, story and world building were so awesome, I'm going to let it slide this time. Awesome characters, badass bestie, 3 gorgeous guys with their own distinctive personalities and let's not forget the school itself, Hogwarts on sexy steroids if you ask me. I'll be hanging out for book 2!

Good

I really enjoyed the way these authors wove their words, inserting complex descriptions with eloquent phrases. It was somehow poetic in places, yet still highly relatable. As for the narrative itself, I’m on the fence. The concepts and foundations are rock solid, forming a picture of a fantastic story. The execution, however, felt a little rushed in places - jumping ahead without full exploration or understanding. Beyond that though, it was amazing, showcasing characters that are both brilliant and funny. It’s an academy read, but a bit different that your usual fare.

Pros:
- The words flow and dance together beautifully.
- Characters are intriguing. Serena..... I want her as a beat friend. Maybe?
- Magical explanations are exacting, but not repelling. It makes you think.
- Fast burn, though a slow build RH.
- Good use of multiple POV.

Cons:
- Story felt rushed.
- Large swatches are glossed over or eliminated, leaving us wondering what happened in the interim.
- Why did she go there to start with? We get a small idea, but no true explanation. That felt pivotal, yet not explored, not really.

Plot was not bad, the magic system seems quite complex, and not something I’ve read before which is neat. The guys are cool, and there friendship is a second to the plot, they have a mild sexual relationship, but not really romantic.

I dont know why but I don’t like Nathan, we havn’t even met him but I don’t like him.

I tried. I really tried to keep pushing with this book. But I can't. I can't get on with the writing, the characters. Like I've read nearly all of this book I can't tell you what's happened other than she's a summoner and something to do with Nathan. The relationship really didn't feel like it developed.

I really couldn't get on with the writing. Not for me.
I can't torture myself like this anymore. I gotta just put it down and sadly not continue with the series.

Great Googly Moogly was this book exciting and thrilling and sexy and stunning and just epic. B.C. and Marie are just exceptional with their story of Lucas Hunter and Isaac wanting to find out what happened to their friend Nathan a year ago and Amelia helping them out. Serena was just a hoot with her mouth I want more of her character in the up coming books. I cant wait to see what will happen next in this world please let book 2 come soon

I went in expecting it to be whatever and I found gold. I simply loved it. It's hard for me to get hooked into fantasy element stories, but I was hooked on from the beginning with this one. Everything flew so smoothly and there was not a moment where I was bored. It was awesome.

I’m ready for my acceptance letter!

A Spell for Death is the fabulous first book in the Rosewilde Academy for Magical Arts by B.C. Palmer and Marie Robinson.

The story follows Amelia and her acceptance into Rosewilde Academy, where she meets the guys who will change her life - Isaac, Luke and Hunter. Let’s not forget the most amazing BFF - Serena. I’ll just leave it at that, cause I don’t want to give away too much.

This is honestly one of my most favourite academy books, and you can’t go past the first book in the series by this amazing duo. If your after a book that has magic, disappearing underwear, no rules and some of the most drool worthy scenes, then one click this book.

I additionally love that this is set in a college environment, rather than a high school, as the characters are more mature.

Great story with interesting take on magic in a paranormal setting. The authors are funny, engaging and leave you wanting more! Can’t wait for book 2!
