This is a strange book. Each section almost feels like a different story, yet they’re all connected completely. I wish it was structured differently, because I feel this would have made the pace quicker. The story is so interesting, but after finishing a section, I didn’t not run to start the next as it felt like one story was done and I was beginning another. Either way, the writing/translation is beautiful and there are many memorable moments. The characters are also really well realised. I recommend this book for people who like slow character studies!

Beautiful in its simplicity, captures the feeling and brokenness so well, the broken homes, the love to be found in food, Korean culture and there was even some unexpected queerness. Such a good read, pulled me right in
