The book of my childhood. My mum read these to me at bedtime and these books are how I learned to read so they have a special place in my heart
I loved this book as a child and what's nice is the fact that my dad loved these books too and was the one who recommended them. Definitely a family favourite! The writing is perfect for it's age range and creates a world of new imagination. Reading back through small snippets always makes me giggle. I would recommend this to any child who is around 8-11 years old.
Read this all the time as a kid, it was my nans fav. I love it! I can’t wait to read this to me children!
funny
lighthearted
fast-paced
There were once three children, called Joe, Beth and Frannie.
I read these books when I was about 6 and honestly I have loved them ever since. I first started reading the books at school, the teaching assistant would read them to us after sport or if it was raining but for me she wasn't reading them fast enough because I just wanted to know what happened next. I bought the book at Waterstones and then started reading it straight away while I was waiting for my parents in the local travel agency.
These books made me fall in love with reading fantasy books because before these books I had read Topsy and Tim. So if it weren't for me wanting to finish reading these books I probably wouldn't be reading the books I am today.
Yes, I know these books are very much a children's book series and I haven't read them in ages they still hold a special place in my heart because of how they affected my life.

I have never met anyone in person who has read even so much as the most famous book in this trilogy 'the faraway tree' these books are amazing and I want more people to read their amazingness. The characters visit so many strange and wonderful lands and I just love it when they take new people up the tree for the first time and they get to meet everyone. This is by far Enid Blyton's best work. I read a lot of the famous five and it just doesn't compare. This is full of imagination and adventure and whilst the famous five had adventure it was ALWAYS smugglers at the end of the day. I especially love moonface's room and how everything is curved around the wonderful slide. I think i'm going to go and read it again now because I love it so much.
obviously very nice, easy, nostalgic reading which is exactly what I was after. each chapter is just a mild problem and an easy solution, with some whimsical magic and fantasy thrown in. controversial opinion perhaps though - the children are not always very kind or fair?? could be a good place to start young readers off with critical reading skills.
Although O did enjoy this after putting it through CAWPILE. I gave it a low 3 Stars
