This one was not as good as the first, but still a weird, quirky, and fun adventure. I didn't think the cast was as strong as in the first book. Honestly, the idea of The Gump is terrifying. I didn't see the twist at the end coming, and it made for a good ending.

With the same charm as The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, this book continues the story of Nick Chopper and the Scarecrow with bucket loads of wit and hilarity. I'm not sure if Baum's success after WWoO made him more able to infuse this book with snark or what, but I laughed aloud multiple times. The characters were so snarky! I loved it.

Remarkably progressive for an early 20th century children's novel - feminism, transgender issues - PUMPKINS?!? Seriously, I enjoyed this (though not as good as the original) but it is much less fun to read than the first. The exclusion of Dorothy does not help the book, meanwhile Pip is entertaining, I suppose, but not great fun (though that twist tho). The Feminist Army are bae.

This one was even more silly than the first book.

They stuffed the Scarecrow full of money, and the Tin Woodman made him treasurer - because of course he's going to be good with money!

Oh! And the Woggle-Bug and his puns! I honestly love puns, I wish Tip hadn't made him stop saying them. I don't really understand why Tip hated them so much, but whatever.

7/10 - I did have a good time with this one.
