I always liked this one, although its paternalism gets tiresome.

If this wasn't part of a classic series I committed to reading, I would have DNFed this

For some reason, I'd never really thought to explore the Oz books beyond the first one, but this adventure story is whimsical and fun! I'm excited to read more about the characters of Oz and the adventures of Ozma and her friends!

Was kind of questioning sexism stuff throughout, decided I thought the ending was a little too sexist and some of the "respect your parents no matter what" at the start is also not ideal

Absurd and wonderful, I loved it.

Surprised at the twist at the end.....

This was so much harder to get through than the original. The old characters feel tired and the new ones are strange. The biggest drawback (and why I stopped reading it to the kids half way through) is it's very sexist sub plots. Oh well, we can still dream of Oz.
