Esta lectura es una relectura para mí, leí el libro hace años y me dejó tan buen sabor de boca la trilogía que he querido volver a repetir y solo puedo decir: Qué acierto.
El libro es un Gossip Girl futurista, una distopía sin precedente que te pone en la piel de varios personajes ya que se narra desde distintos puntos de vista. Todos viven en la Torre, la cual tiene hasta mil pisos, en los pisos más bajos vive la clase obrera y están los sistemas que hace funcionar todo, y en las plantas más altas está la clase alta, todo lo pijo. Coronando el edificio el piso mil, un apartamento donde vive la familia Fuller y la chica más perfecta de la torre: Avery.
Avery esconde un terrible secreto, además está harta de que se la considere perfecta por eso se intenta escapar de todos esos estándares y normas impuestas por una sociedad podrida.
Leda es la mejor amiga de Avery y esconde más de un secreto a parte de una terrible e insana obsesión por Atlas, el hermano de Avery.
Eris es amiga de la infancia de Avery y de golpe su vida da un giro imprevisto cuando un secreto familiar sale a la luz.
Rylin es una chica de los pisos inferiores que tiene que cuidar de su hermana tras la muerte de su madre. Lo que la llevará a aceptar un trabajo que cambiará su vida.
Watt es un genio, con un GRAN secreto. Se encarga de hacer trabajos como hacker para ganar un dinero y ayudar a su familia que pasa por apuros en los pisos inferiores.
A parte de estos cinco protagonistas el libro está plagado de personajes super interesantes que les acompañan de principio a fin.
Un libro adictivo, con un montón de secretos que te deja con ganas de saber como acabará, sobre todo sabiendo que uno de ellos muere al final si o si, necesitas saber quién y por qué desde el principio pero hasta el final no sabrás nada.
Me parece que los personajes están super bien construidos y a pesar de ser tantos no hay ninguno repetido, lo cual es un logro. Esto además te hace pasar por alto un worldbuiding un poco pobre pero que tampoco es necesario para la historia que cuentan.
La verdad es que estoy deseando seguir leyendo el resto de la saga porque aunque ya sepa que pasa, realmente lo estoy disfrutando como si fuese la primera vez.

Holy crap, this book was not at all what I thought it was going to be, but it was so good.
I cannot wait to get my hands on the sequel and see where the story continues.
This story was full of lies, romance, vengeance in a unique futuristic world. Some of the stories were predictable, some were cringey, and all of them resulted in such an addictive read!

En realidad, 2.5. Me pareció un libro de 4 estrellas al principio, pero conforme avanzaba fui quitándole estrellas, por la manera en que la autora desarrollaba el romance entre los personajes. Los logros que tuvo fueron que había una historia comprensible detrás de cada personaje, y que de alguna manera las relaciones de amistad entre todos estuvo pensada desde un principio, pero no bastó para que me terminaran de dar ganas de leer el siguiente libro. Sobre todo, siento que debo resaltar que el final no tuvo en mi el impacto que se supone debió tener.

This book starts out with a mystery: who fell off the roof? Then it introduces you to several different characters from varying backgrounds that all live in this ridiculously large tower.
At first, the only thing that my mind could register was all the privileged, spoiled, selfish mannerisms of the upper level characters. I was so annoyed by how dense some of the characters seemed and was worried I would have to DNF.
But I got sucked up into the teenage drama. I was loving all of the drama. So much drama. Drama, Drama, DRAMA!!!! Things started getting intense, multiple storylines were now crossing, and they were all leading to this one event. And then BAM! The expectedly unexpected happens and before I really had a chance to process everything, it ends. It simply ends. ARE YOU KIDDING ME?!?!
There was a great mix of characters, they all ranged from “I really hope this is the one that fell of the roof” to “please don’t let this one be the one that fell off the roof”. I was super attached to Rylin, she was my girl, while I completely LOATHED Avery.
The tower was a very interesting setting, reading about all the little intricacies that would go into a functioning tower that was 1000 floors high was really impressive. I think the highest I have ever been in a building was the 37th floor, and I was freaking out the whole time. When they would mention events that were happening on the 920th floor, I would get instant vertigo just trying to imagine what that would look like.
Needless to say, I will be reading the second book as soon as I can.

Oh my God! That's how it ends!? I didn't even realize this wasn't a standalone. When does the next one come out? I don't think I can wait!
