I started this book a loooong time ago and just now finally finished it. I really really enjoyed this book (despite being YA) and was going to give it 4 stars. But now it gets 3 for two reasons
1. the pseudo incest that was written as if it was a normal relationship was a little gross. I kept thinking it was an error.
2. Didn't like the ending but then I found out it's a trilogy so there might be more to that. Also didn't like that at the end i found out the "bad guy" was black (like of course). Reading someone else's reviews helped me see some other stereotypes I had missed too.
I'll still be reading the rest of the trilogy though.

First off, I loved the setting and the detail of this world. Everything was so intricate that it just plunged me into the world and I felt like I was really in it. The characters took some time getting used to, due to the multiple POVs, but by the end, I did care for them, although some more than most. I really hope that this book has a sequel because I need to continue with these characters.
Sehr viele dramatische Teenager und nichts für meine queere Seele :/

No había un solo pov que no me diera pereza leer. Me han caído mal o resultado indiferentes la mayoría de personajes, me daba igual quién hubiera saltado de la torre

Confession: I love trashy YA dystopian romance. Whenever my man loses me in a bookstore, he knows he can find me lurking in the YA section, and then stares at me pointedly until I sashay away.
Before I get into this review, I need to check a few people on goodreads for a second, as quite a few people had a lot to say about the "incest" in this book.
Spoiler: There is no biological incest
If I'm remembering correctly, no one was upset when Cher and Josh got together in Clueless, and they were step-siblings. Yeah, it's kinda icky..... but you know what's worse? The Lannisters in Game of Thrones. Or the brother and sister in Flowers in the Attic. THOSE are true examples of incest. This is not to say that it's a great idea to fall in love with your adopted brother, but it's a work of fiction.... and really, is Gossip Girl that much higher on the morality scale?! Just look at Chuck Bass. Look at Edward Cullen. Look at Christian Gray. Really, take a good, hard look at these characters you know and love and ask yourself if those are truly moral.
We don't read books because we want them to show us a moral compass.... we read them because they damn fun! And if you do want to read moral books, get thyself to the Christian section of the bookstore. Even The Bible has some iffy parts.
But I digress... onto the actual review! Yes, this book is Gossip Girl set in the future, but that's not even the best part about it. The setting is wildly imaginative (I wanted more!) and the points of views from each character were engaging and interesting. Not all of the characters were likable, but all of them had relatable character traits - enough to keep me interested in their story. I can easily see this series being picked up by CW or Freeform and devoured by teens everywhere. It was refreshing to read a YA novel that's not polluted with "supernatural forces" (sorry, I'm over it), and one that has some fairy decent writing. As the author's first novel, I think she did a fantastic job immersing her readers in this world and prolonging the mystery.
