One couple with money, fame and influence.
One couple with an already strained relationship.
And a teenager who gets pulled into their orbit - and a little too attached.

The Swap was far darker and twistier than I expected. I was prepared for some of the "complications" of their little arrangement, but then it went to a WHOLE other level. It was also incredibly entertaining - I read it in a day because I couldn't put it down, and needed to know what would happen next.

This book was a thriller done perfectly, seen from everyone's POV. I feel like this is a must-read for those who love psychological thrillers.

The Swap was a good thriller and marital drama that was as dark as it was entertaining. I wasn’t sure how it would end or how all the characters would be involved. Even though I did not like any of the characters, I was still hooked and invested in their drama. Freya was such a toxic person, but she was magnetic and both Low and Jamie were enthralled by her. Low was definitely more obsessed, but both of them were drawn to her and just couldn’t stay away.

Even though the book wasn’t fast paced, I still flew through the pages to find out what craziness would happen next. Freya kept cutting Low and Jamie out of her friend circle, using them both, then pretending they didn’t exist. There was the whole partner swap, the business aspect, the abuse, the pregnancy.. it was just such a mess and I couldn’t wait to see how the knot of craziness would unravel.

Quick read because all I wanted was for Freya to receive her comeuppance! And I also wanted out of the headspace of these other women (Low and Jamie) who were obsessed w her when she was SO MEAN?! Was she just bipolar or was there something else, what else?!

Ok hear me out I read the first page of this The Swap by Robyn Harding in a SHOPPERS DRUGMART like EIGHT MONTHS AGO and then I just couldn’t stop thinking about how dramatically it was all going to unfold. It’s half thriller, half half-consensual-spouse-swapping gone terribly wrong, one part half-creepy teenager loner needs a better hobby than resenting her hippie family, one part “influencer culture is a blight on our communities”, one part total nostalgia for small-town coastal BC. It was a quick read and, at points, an overly dramatic read, but that’s also the style of this half-thriller genre and who am I to complain? All in all honestly a pretty enjoyable thing to put my eyes on when I woke up in the middle of the night and couldn’t get back to sleep.

Very quick read-- utilizes various strategies to propel the reader the forward. Not much denouement-- the climax occurs, then everything wraps up neatly but quickly. Some good twists and turns. Not a sexy book, as the back description leads you to believe.

I definitely loved this book. It was true to the Robyn Harding form of catching you right off the bat. Nothing was ever out of reach and I was completely captured by the dynamics of Low, Freya, and Jamie. Well done!
