I enjoyed reading this book and was really engaged throughout. I didn’t really find any of the characters loveable and ended up hating Low and Freya but that was a good sign because that’s how the reader was positioned to feel. I didn’t expect the book to have the climax it did but I loved it and quickly sped through the fall out afterwards. Will defiantly suggest to friends!!
This was incredibly meh for me. A quick and fun listen - I'm realizing I LOVE the toxic friendship trope - but nothing really surprised me.
As soon as Freya was like "everyone forgives you if you have a baby", it was clear what her plan was. Max being sterile was a little unexpected but made total sense.
Low's obsession was creepy and also intriguing. And her killing Freya to protect the baby was a good ending.
But all in all it was middle of the road for me. And I truly don't understand what the Max and Brian POVs added to it...
And I have to wonder: IS Max the father? Are we supposed to think that's confirmed or is it a loose end? Because Robyn Harding did that in The Perfect Family and I hated it lol

4 stars!
This book was very good. Very dark, filled with madness, obsession, jealousy, lies, and tragedy. It follows three main characters; Low (a high school student), Jamie (wife who wants to be a mom), and Freya (free spirited artist married to an ex-hockey player). All of them have secrets, and all three interweave with each other until they can't get out as the book races to the finish line.

I really enjoyed this book. I read it in about three hours because I couldn't look away. I was both surprised and not at all surprised by the end of the book. I did like the ending though; I felt it was the only way the book COULD end. If you don't mind dark tales, pick this one up!

This wasn’t at all what I thought it would be in a good way. So much crazy going on in this book!

“One night of fun, One deadly outcome.” A brilliant novel with a WHOLE lot of crazy!
Low is an odd teenager who has no friends and a very controversial family dynamic. Low spots a pretty woman at the school. Too young to be a teacher yet too old to be a student and follows her to the school notice board where she places a flyers for pottery lessons on it. And the obsession begins!
Freya was a social media influencer back on the mainland, she moved to the island after being bullied by tolls online. Her husband Max’s temper left a man so injured that he ended his life. Max and Freya were sued and needed an escape and a fresh start.
Jamie and her husband moved to the island to live out their dreams, him writing and her owning her on retail store. Jamie desperately wants a child however her body won’t allow her the honour.
Obsessions, betrayal, resentment, friendship, jealously and murder! Freya uses her charm to draw the two women in and use them at her disposal, she plays them against each other causing them both to behave irrationally. One night after taking psychedelics the two couples swap partners. What should have been a night of fun turned out to be beginning of the end.
Highly recommend picking up a copy of The Swap.
