An exhilarating, incredibly creepy book. Beautifully written and I can't wait for the second book. But I was soooo happy to have the new Penderwicks book waiting for me to read as respite after this one.

Un libro muy peculiar…

A fun book with some obscure moments, although the main "mystery" was too obvious since page 20. It could have been better, specially regarding the characters. The best moments were starred by the grandparents.

If you were looking for The Adam's, you are searching in the wrong place. It's more disturbing and less familiar.

3.5 rounded up.
pros: love a little whimsy in my gothic
cons: not gay enough

Siento que este libro tiene nombre... No, de hecho, tiene nombre. Puedo oírlo. Puedo oírlo claramente. Está gritando. Y grita «¡Edward Carey!»

While I do agree this story is "whimsically gothic", it was highly repetitive. I understand it's for younger readers but I felt as though the author was just trying to fill a lot of space quickly in a few parts...

Excellent reading of a very inventive book. So complete I'm not impelled to read further in the trilogy; maybe later. Reminds me,I should re-read Titus Groan.
