I just did not get the hype surrounding this book. The characters are boring. The story is lacking it felt like I was reading a version of E True Hollywood story about my least favorite celebrities. The ending wasn’t really surprising. Not a fan.

This is the kind of book that will keep you turning pages. Every page I read, I wanted to know what would happen next.

I haven’t read a book like it before, so it is hard to describe. I think what makes it so good to read is the characters and the tightly written narrative. No character is uninteresting, and the way Reid is able to make a story in this interview format is so interesting.

It will make you laugh, and it will make you sad. I would really recommend it

This was a fun spring break read for me -- I whizzed through it in a matter of hours. I love stories about musicians, and it was super fun to read about all the ambition, mess, and drama that this fictional band had to navigate.

All of the characters felt realistically flawed, though some were certainly more likable than others. Daisy Jones in particular really started getting on my nerves, but I liked how she learned her lesson by the end. On the other end of the spectrum, Camila was literally perfect. Fabulous, no notes. And Billy ... well, I did want to reach into the book and slap some sense into him sometimes, but I appreciate his strength of character after he pulled himself out of his deepest hole.

I also appreciated the song lyrics at the end of the book -- it made the world seem more real. Of course, they changed all the lyrics for the show adaptation, but that's to be expected since Taylor Jenkins Reid presumably isn't a professional songwriter.

I'm currently watching the show adaptation, and so far I definitely prefer the book, but that's nothing new. It's still cool to see parts of a story I enjoyed come to life.

The writing was good (as per usual with TJR) and the purpose was engaging, but imo it was an overall fairly boring story. I loved the ending though.

In many ways, I'm not sure why I like this book so much. It was so intensely readable (I listened to it, which might be part of it) and I think I'll look back on the story in the future.

I read this after reading Evelyn Hugo last year and I adored this book almost as much. It deals with some complex themes and it has really rich character arcs. I didn’t think I would enjoy the fake biography style but it made the storytelling really rich and interesting and it felt real.

My only gripe was i don’t like ambiguous endings so i would have liked a bit more of an air of resolution and finality BUT i understand the writing choice of leaving it as it was left.
