This was a very average book. There were some positives though--demisexual (among a lot of other, well done) representation and humans that turned out to be genuinely interesting/nice characters (not quite what I expected given that Earth was called 'backwards' although that is technologically true).

Honestly not too sure of the chemistry between these two but I...enjoyed it? I thought it would be a series though?! Confused.

This was the first "sci-fi" book I've ever read, and unfortunately I wasn't all that impressed. Don't get me wrong, it was decent, it just wasn't something that had the wow factor to me. It was relatively easy for being a sci-fi (since it's YA). I thought I would have a hard time keeping up with different terms and dialogue but it was actually quite easy to follow.

I enjoyed this sci fi novel! I love the main characters and side characters. The romance between Joy and Felix was cute and I love the kindred concept in this. I have to agree with other reviews that some parts of the story did dragged on like when they crashed on earth and I would have liked more plot in space and on other alien planets.

I wanted to read a stand alone and this was just wow. The world building, the characters, the plot. I craved more and more and still do. The Kindred programm that would never make you feel alone… I want it now! And the heart felt dialogues and monologues in their heads. It was amazing read. I have never annotated whole paragraphs and pages until this book. I want a movie of this. Amazing last read of the month. Highly recommend.

I was so excited for this book. Sadly I had expectations that weren’t met. I loved Joy, the music and the adventure but I felt the plot wasn’t balanced.. if that even makes sense.
