As much as I love twilight, this would have to be my least favourite book in the series. The story seemed so dull without Edward around, and I was cringing at how Bella led Jacob on despite having no romantic interest in him.
Bella would not have met the Volturi if Edward hadn't left and the story would not be able to progress to the subsequent books, but I think a more interesting storyline could have been created to introduce Bella to the Volturi.
The entire novel just seemed to be full of filler. This is one of the rare moments when I believe a movie adaption actually outshined a book.

This book made me feel things. It was so much better than the movie! I really related to Bella in this one. When i broke up with my first love I fell into a similar depression and avoided triggers like romance and things that reminded me of him. I really felt for Bella in this one. And I love Jake! He is so much sweeter and romantic than Edward. If only she felt that way for him too.
Jacob and Bella's relationship in this book is much more tolerable for me despite her using him as rebound in lack of someone's presence. She also mentions how big Jacob is all the dang time. We get it. Much like what I said in my review for Twilight, I would've enjoyed this book more if Meyer developed the story further with details on the Quileute tribe and the Volturi.
